7/13/2020 COVID-19 Protocol – Real Estate Activities Washington State
In this new reality where just getting gas or a loaf of bread brings a number of decision points as to how to effectively and legally follow established public safety protocols, the process of real estate has a number of specific, state-mandated procedures, both for buyers and sellers. If you’ve been to a medical office or facility, you’re keenly aware of how serious these guidelines are adhered to, when taken seriously. For brokers, the mere actions of showing a home bring myriad decision points; who can be on site, who can be in a property, distancing, etc. And there are liabilities for brokers far beyond just the surface level safety protocols; protecting their clients, protecting others, and possible legal ramifications if someone were to become sick due to exposure resulting from real estate activities, and finally, not to mention their own personal exposure required to simply conduct what used to be a fun activity: showing homes!
